Password Import

Do you use Mozilla Firefox? Do you want to import all saved bowser passwords into DataInherit?

Password Import from Mozilla Firefox on WINDOWS
(MacOS see below)

In Mozilla Firefox you can look at your saved passwords but you cannot export them:

  • Menu Tools > Options > Security > Saved Passwords

If you want to export the passwords and import them into DataInherit then follow these instructions:

1. Install Mozilla Firefox Add-On for Password Export

2. Export Passwords from Firefox

  • Menu Tools > Options > Security, click the button "Import/Export Passwords"
  • Click "Export Passwords" and confirm
  • Change file type from (.xml) to (.csv) and save the password document on your desktop

3. Import Passwords into DataInherit

  • Log into your DataInherit account using a browser (www.datainherit.com > "Login").
  • Click button "More Actions" > Import Passwords, choose and open the CSV file from your desktop.
  • Check "First line contains header data"
  • Check "Remove quotes"
  • Choose separator comma (,)
  • Choose the character set that displays your special characters (umlaute etc.) best.
  • When the table looks correct, then click "Import". All passwords will now be imported into your DataInherit account.

4. Choose a Title for each Password Entry

  • Now every password entry displays the web address as its title, which is not so convenient. With a simple double-click on each password entry you can change the title: e.g. from "http://www.mybank.com" to "MyBank Login"

DONE!

  • Don't forget to delete the password document on your desktop and empty the trash!
